About
Hi there. My name is Curtis and I’m a Georgian who has been transplanted into the beautiful town of Forest City in western North Carolina. For years I’ve worked in IT for a Fortune 500 company. Computers are my life. Sometimes that’s good, sometime that’s… bad. Oh, I know the perception of people who work in IT. Fast cars, beautiful women, big houses, big bucks… Truth is who has the time for that? It probably would be the good life it wasn’t for the users. They will drive you crazy! In fact, it helps a little bit if you are slightly insane to work in IT.
Just some personal advice… a reboot will solve 95% of your computer problems.
For almost the same number of years that I’ve been working, just three years less, I’ve been married to my beautiful wife whom I love very much. Since I have confessed to mild insanity, she is either totally all together, or just going through the motions in shock putting up with me. She spends her time watching over the homestead and spoiling our gorgeous Golden Retriever. He truly is a beauty. Pretty smart, too. Probably the smartest one in the family. At least his eyes aren’t glazed over.
I am interested in a lot of things. My wife is always telling me that I have an “interest of the moment”. That’s true, I guess. I’ll get wrapped up in something, then move on to something else. Sometimes, I’ll make a circle and come back. I’m interested in the following things:
- Photography
- Sports
- Art (I’m somewhat of an amateur)
- Movies
- History
- Music (most kinds, but not country!)
- Politics
- Italian food
… and there are probably, or will be, others.
I’m Southern. I have the accent. I talk the language. I know what “yonder” and “might-near” and “y’all” and “libel to” and “awright” means and I know what “kudzu” and “polk” and a “conniption” is. I love grits and fried okra. I eat slaw on my BBQ. I know this doesn’t settle well with some folk, but there’s just no other way.
Last but certainly not least, I’m a Christian who attends a Southern Baptist church. I’m not going to preach, my dad did that (for a living). But I’m proud to know Jesus and I hope I live my life in such a way that shows it. I realize that Christians are the only Bible some people read. That’s a shame. They should look at the author.
If you ever have a comment that you wish to send me other than on this blog, please email me at ricejc@nctv.com.
I hope you’ll settle in and enjoy yourselves…
Curt
